Bantwal: Some miscreants vandalised and set fire to an office of the Communist Party of India near the bypass road in Bantwal on Thursday Jan 3rd. According to sources, the miscreants gained access into the CPI’s one-storey building by breaking the back door. CPI members were using the building near bypass road to store documents.
Post gaining access into the office, the miscreants heaped the documents in the office, including membership of beedi workers and applications for beedi scholarship and set fire to them. They also set the furniture ablaze, inform sources from the police.
Based on the complaint by CPI secretary B Shekhar, Bantwal police have registered a complaint and investigating the case. The police have collected CCTV footage from the surrounding buildings and are bound to arrest the culprits soon.
Reason
It is presumed that the act of vandalism is in response to the CPI cadre setting fire to BJP offices in Kerala.
