Udupi: In the backdrop of the fishermen community holding a massive protest demanding the rescue of the missing boat ‘Suvarna Tribhuja’ along with its crew of seven fishermen, heavy security arrangements are in place throughout city and outskirts on Sunday, January 6.

Beginning the protest at 8 am at Malpe, the protest will proceed towards Udupi through Kalmadi and Karavali Junction. There is a ban on liquor sale from 8 am to 8 pm on Jan 6th.

The protest is expected to attract thousands of protestors. The entire fisherfolk community from coastal area is joining this protest, it is understood.

All fishing activities have stopped as the fisherfolk are said to be totally affected by the missing boat incident and saddened by the allegedly ineffective government response.
