Daylight Robbery: Accused caught with the help from public

Puttur: The public successfully caught and handed over a few persons to the police for attempting to barge into a petty shop at Arlapadavu and commit theft. The arrested are identified as Riyaz of Bejaru and Sirajuddin of Nekkilady in Uppinangady.

The accused had barged into the petty shop owned by Ashraf at Arlapadavu and made off with a mobile phone worth Rs 5,000. As soon as Ashraf realized of the theft, he immediately called the police and informed them. Later, the police caught the accused near Marlapadavy check post with the assistance from the public.

The stolen goods have been seized and a case in this connection has been registered with the Puttur rural police.
