Rs 1 lakh compensation to each family of fishermen who went missing: HDK

Bengaluru: Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Wednesday, January 9 said that the government has decided to give Rs 1 lakh compensation to each family of the fishermen of Udupi who went missing while fishing.
Addressing presspersons, at his Home office, Krishna Kumaraswamy said that the compensation would be distributed to the families very soon and informed that the state government has not neglected the fishermen missing incident.
He further added that the Fisheries Minister Venkatarao Nadagouda is in Udupi and is observing the situation.
Kumaraswamy said that he has informed the issue to the Union Defence Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister as soon as he got the news and has also directed the concerned officials to take all possible steps. Even the Coast Guard also responded to the appeal of the state government, which has taken all possible measures to trace the missing fishermen, he added.
