Khelo India youth games: Excellence by Alva’s students

Moodbidri: Abhinaya Shetty, a student of Alva’s Educational Institutions has won the gold medal at the high jump competition at that national level Khelo India competition being conducted at Pune and expresses her happiness of victory by stating that her achievement is the result of the encouragement and support given by her trainer Vasanth Jogi, Alva’s president Dr M Mohan Alva and her parents.
Speaking with Udayavani she said, “I am very happy. I wish accomplish even more achievements. We have asked the government to provide a good scholarship,” she said.
Abhinaya who is originally from Karkala and is pursuing second-year B.Com won the gold medal in high jump by jumping a height of 1.79 meters. 1st year B com student Supriya from Chikmagalur also jumped the same height (considering fouls) and won the silver medal.
Bhavishya Poojary won the silver in the 67 kg category weight lifting. Nishanth won the bronze in the 109 kg division of the weight lifting. Lavanya Rai won the silver in the 71 kg division of weight lifting conducted on Sunday. Laxmi redekar won the bronze medal in the wrestling competition and this is her 8th medal in a national level competition. Belgavi Rajata has won a medal in the wrestling division.
