Cattle trafficking – two arrested, seven cattle rescued

Kundapur: Gang that was transporting cattle in an Omni towards Mangaluru from Jaddinagadde of Amasebailu, Siddapura near here, were busted by the Amasebailu police. Two persons were arrested and seven cattle were rescued in the operation that conducted on the wee hours of Saturday, January 19. Two more accused were able to escape during the operation..
Based on a definite lead, the police team led by Amasebailu SI Shekhar along with Shankar S and home guard Manju unearthed the illegal trafficking of the cows after they stopped an Omni for checking at around 1.40 am.
The arrested are identified as Srinivas Shetty, a resident of Gurpur Kaikamba and Ashraf, a resident of Ganjimutt. The two accused who escaped during the arrest have been identified as Asif and Navid, both residents of Ganjimutt. Apparently, the gang was transporting cattle via Nagu Kotari and Krishna Kotari of Amasebailu.
Amasebailu police have registered a case in this connection.
