Court sends notice to the man who got a python to spit out chicks

Kasaragod: A court notice has been sent to the man who made a python to spit out a few chicks it had swallowed. The man in question is identified as Mohammed, a snake catcher from the region.
A family living at Chattanchal in the district had sought assistance of Mohammed, an expert snake catcher and a resident of Aramangana after a python managed to sneak into a coop inside the house of the family and gobble up a number of chicks found therein.
Though his expertise, Mohammed was successful in catching hold of the python. He then compelled the python to spit out the chicks which it had swallowed. Someone had captured the video of this and shared it on social media.
Animal Legal Force Integration’s general secretary Angel Nair saw this video and had a petition in the high court on the charges of this being both illegal and inhuman. Consequently, the Court served a notice to Mohammed and the forest department as well in this connection.
The forest department had permitted Mohammed to attend to complaints of snakes entering households as he was an expert in the field and also since the department does not the post of a snake catcher.
