Fruit and flowers expo at Kadri Park: Jan 26 to 28

Mangaluru: A three-day horticultural and floricultural exhibition has been organised by the Department of Horticulture and Siri Totagarike Sangha, at Kadri Park here from January 26 to 28. The event will display a variety of topiary including shapes of animals, birds or any other objects made from colourful flowers.

H.R. Nayak, Deputy Director, Department of Horticulture, Dakshina Kannada addressed the media on Wednesday Jan 23 and said that there would be display of fruits and vegetables, orchids, anthuriums and other flowers.

Saplings of budded rose, chrysanthemum, anthurium, gerbera, hibiscus, and other flowers, and vegetables and fruits will be sold by the taluk wings of the department during the event. Vegetable carvings and model vegetable garden will also be there at the event.

Drip irrigation, bee-keeping, growing mushrooms, arranging cut flowers, hydroponics and other activities will be demonstrated at the event. Honey and other value-assed products will be on sale here. The exhibition provides free entry to the physically challenged, special-needs children, and schoolchildren wearing uniform who come in groups accompanied by their teachers. The entry fee for an adult is Rs. 20 and Rs. 10 for a child.
