Retired police officer violates traffic rules; hits 5 vehicles, injures two

Kadri: Two persons ended up injured after a drunken retired police officer violated traffic rules, late on Saturday night January 26th.

As per sources, the retired SP is identified as Mithra Heraje drove his car from Circuit House to Bejai on the wrong lane late in the night at 12 pm and as he reached Bhattagudda, he rammed the car into 5 vehicles that were coming up the road. The impact of the collision severely injured two riders on a scooter. The injured have been admitted to a hospital in the city.

The locals at the location got real angry and took the ex-cop to task. It is learnt that Kadri police had to resort to mild lathi charge to disperse the crowd.

The police later detained Mr Heraje who is also currently serving as the chairman of the retired police officers association.
