Mangaluru: A lady from abroad was forced to return back to the hospital in Mangaluru, after the air ambulance which came from the foreign country to air-lift her malfunctioned.

British citizen Ann Lavish Smith, who had reached New Mangalore Port 10 days back as a tourist, suddenly developed difficulties in breathing and hence was later admitted to a private hospital in the city. Her husband Lavish Smith, stayed back with her at the hospital and decided to shift his wife to Britain for further treatment.

Accordingly, the air ambulance came from Britain and landed at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) on Saturday. At 5 pm in the evening, the couple was in an ambulance and about to leave to the airport when news came that the air ambulance had suffered some technical problem and hence, the couple were forced to return back to the hospital.

A separate plane arrived with personnel to repair the malfunctioning air ambulance and later, Ann shall return back to Britain in that plane. This is the first time an air ambulance has malfunctioned at MIA.
