Mangaluru: A condemnation meeting will be held against the proposed merger of the Vijaya Bank with the Bank of Baroda on February 20th by inviting all the elected representatives for the meet, announced the Vijaya Bank Ulisi Horata Samiti on Friday Feb 8th.

The venue for the meeting is yet to be decided informed Horata Samithi president Dinesh Hegde Ulepady and said, “We will invite the elected representatives from the GP level to MP. Our intention is to make them come together against the merger of Vijaya Bank with the Bank of Baroda. By taking signatures from all the elected representatives, we will put pressure on the central government to withdraw the cabinet’s decision to merger Vijaya Bank with the Bank of Baroda,” he explained.

“The merger of the banks was a hasty and secret decision. Vijaya bank has given plenty of employment opportunity for thousands of people residing in the Karavali. Merging a profitable bank with a bank which is incurring loss is unacceptable. A PIL has also been filed in this connection with the High Court which will come for hearing on Feb 13th, informed Mr Hegde.
