Road mishap at Murudeshwar: siblings killed, two children injured

Murudeshwar: Two youths lost their lives and two children sustained serious injuries as a result of an accident at Murudeshwar, NH 66 on February 13. The deceased have been identified as Afreen Mukhtasar (30) and Kaif Mukhtasar (19), residents of Manki in Honnavar Taluk. The two grievous injured children Ahmed (5) and Azmat (3) are receiving treatment at Manipal Hospital.
Apparently, Mohammed Kaif, Afreen and her two children were on their way to Manki to meet their parents when the unfortunate incident took place. A speeding tempo hit head-on top the scooter on which they were travelling. The force of the impact was such that, both the adults were thrown to the road and sustained severe injuries which claimed their lives on the spot. The children on the other hand also suffered serious injuries and are receiving treatment at Manipal hospital.
The deceased Kaif Mukhtasar was pursuing BBA at Anjuman Institute of Management and Computer Application. He was staying at the rented house of his sibling in Nawayath Colony at Bhatkal. It is learnt that Afreen’s husband was staying in Kuwait.
A case has been registered in Murudeshwar police station.
