Trapped leopard dies in a separate incident
Belman: A leopard attacked two persons at Ambalapadavu near Kantavara temple in Karkala taluk on Friday, February 15th. Forest officials who visited the location soon, were able to catch the leopard after some struggle. The caught leopard was transferred to Pilikula Biological Park. The injured have been admitted to the hospital.
On Friday morning, the leopard attacked Sunder Poojary and fled. But soon at around 10 am, the leopard again attacked one Meena Poojary. The villagers inform that the leopard was seen in the vicinity since a couple of days. Though a trap had been set for its capture, it failed to succeed.
Many people assisted the forest department ACF Ajjappa, Moodbidri range officer Prakash Poojary, department staff Ashvit, Manjunath in the capture of the leopard. Kantavara GP president Rajesh Kotian, former president Jaya Kotian, villagers Bharat, Nitesh, Lokesh, Vasu Shetty , Guruprasad and others helped in capturing the wild animal.

Manipal: A four-year-old female leopard which was caught in a trap set for it at Angarakatte Kenekunja near Pernankil died when the forest department staffs were attempting to free it from the trap and catch it. The leopard was caught at its waist in the set trap. Since there was no anesthesiologist available for the department, there was a delay in releasing the animal from the trap.
