II PU exam: 15,410 students to appear

Udupi: Around 15,410, will be appearing for the second year Pre-University Course (PUC) examination, in Udupi district. The examinations will be held from March 1 to 18. The information was revealed at a preparatory meeting for examination chaired by Deputy Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati here on Tuesday.

Deputy Director of Pre-University Education Subrahmanya Joshi said that 27 centres would be set up for conducting the exam across Udupi district. Eight route teams will be distributing the question papers and the principals of the respective colleges would be the chief supervisors for these centres.

Surprise visits will be conducted by the vigilance squad. The question papers will be stored at the strong room of the district treasury and a committee of officials under the Additional Deputy Commissioner would be in charge of it. Distribution of the question paper to the centres will be done under tight security, he informed.

Speaking at the meeting, the DC asked the persons appointed on exam duty to be sincere and give no scope to any lacunae. All basic facilities should be provided at the exam centres. Department officers should visit all the exam centres and all benches and desks in all the rooms must be checked. Section 144 for will be implemented in the vicinity of the centres and the prohibitory orders needs to be implemented effectively, said the DC.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Vidya Kumari said that strangers should be prohibited from entering the exam centres. No mobile phones are allowed within the exam centre including the exam supervisors.
