New animal attraction at Pilikula Biological Park

- World’s longest reticulated python
Vamanjoor: Along with a reticulated python, many new animals have been introduced at Pilikula Biological Park which is now attracting scores of visitors.
The reticulated python from Nicobar Island is the longest non-poisonous snake in the world. Along with three pairs of reticulated python, pair of Indian gaur (bison), 10 pairs of painted stork, 12 night heron have been brought from Arignar Anna Zoological Park, Vandalur, Chennai.
In return, Pilikula Biological Park has given two pairs of King Cobra, a Whitaker’s Boa, and a Wolf Snake to the Vandalur zoo.
Director of the park H. Jayaprakash Bhandary said that the Indian gaur is listed amongst the endangered animal in the Indian Wildlife Protection Act. The male bison brought from Vandalur is 11 years old and the female bison is six, he informed.
