Kendriya Vidyalaya on the premises of NITK

Surathkal: Permission has been provided to establish Kendriya Vidyalaya at the premises of National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), said Union Human Resource minister Prakash Javedkar.
He was speaking via video conference after inaugurating the newly constructed sports complex within the NITK compound at the cost of Rs 34.07 crore.
The future of the country is in technology. Prime minister Narendra Modi is giving encouragement for this and the human resource department is giving importance to technology based development, research and inventions. On March 2nd a programme has been organized in which altogether 2 lakh students from the various IIT, IISC, NIT and other colleges will be indulging continuously in a 36 hrs of various activities.
Learning is not limited only to classroom, computer and libraries but also include sports. Along with science and technology, the department has provided grant for the construction of a sports complex for post-graduate students to achieve mental and physical strength while facing the pressure of studies. Make good use of this and become an expert in any one form of sports, he said.
The minister inaugurated an IISC in Bhopal, IIT in Kottayam and the sports complex at NITK via video conference from New Delhi and gave separate messages.

The new sports complex has three floors and an area of 94,700 sq ft and has been built at the cost of Rs 34.07 crore. Cricket, yoga, TT, badminton, squash and other sports may be organized here. The work on this building was completed in the month of November 2018.
