Feb 23: Meeting opposing the merger of Vijaya Bank

Mangaluru: The union government’s order to merger Vijaya Bank will come into effect on April 1 and union government also has the authority to cancel it even before it is implemented. Therefore in order to inform the central government of the unanimous decision of Karavali district and to show the stand of the peoples representatives from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district, the Vijaya Bank Ulisi Horata Samithi has called for a meeting at the Town Hall on February 23rd at 11 am, informed committee president Dinesh Hegde Ulepady.
Request to stop the process of merger
The leaders of DK and Udupi district BJP, Congress, JD(S) and CPI (M) have already been contacted and invited for the meeting. Every political party has been informed to give information regarding the representative of the people who has been selected to participate in the programme. The undivided district’s decision against the merger of Vijaya Bank will be sent to the union minister with the signatures from the people’s representatives. By joining in leaders from all the political parties, the demand to stop the merger of Vijaya Bank will be submitted at a meeting the leaders of the central government, informed the release.
