Mangaluru: Rubbishing allegations made against him over housing project at Shakthinagar by former MLA J R Lobo, Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath said that the latter was leveling baseless charges against him.
Speaking to media on Friday Mr Kamath said, “During the recent zilla panchayath meeting, land issue in the housing project came to light. During the meeting, I had never mentioned about former MLA J R Lobo and I had taken officials to task in this matter. Former MLA J R Lobo is criticising me and questioning me about my contribution in the last 10 months.”
“Former MLA J R Lobo was aware of the complications in the project and still promises were made. I will ensure that this project will become a reality without any complications,” he added.
“J R Lobo did not check the status of the land before taking up the project and now he is leveling charges against me. He needs to mention any one project started during his tenure which is remembered. Police commissionarate building, Circuit House, and court building was all started during BJP’s tenure and Congress has inaugurated it. When then chief minister Yeddyurappa released Rs 100 crore for development works in Mangaluru, it was not utilized properly,” alleged Kamath.
