II PUC exam: 542 students absent in DK, Udupi districts

- 2nd PU students face exams without fear
Mangaluru/Udupi: The 2nd PUC examinations commenced from Friday. The examinations were held at 54 centres in Dakshina Kannada district with property security measures. Of the total 36 students in the district, 35,609 students wrote the exam while 391 students remained absent. Of the total 15,410 students in Udupi district, 15,259 students wrote the exams while 151 students failed to appear for the exams.
Of the 19,521 student from DK attempting economics exam, 19,205 appeared for the exam while 316 students remained absent. Of the 16,479 students appearing for physics exam, 16,404 were present while 75 students were absent. In Udupi district, 125 and 26 students were absent for the economics and physics exams respectively.
In many colleges, one witnessed parents and teachers encouraging the students to face the exam without any fear and with self-confidence.
Mixed response from the students
Students who attempted the economics and physics exams gave a mixed response on how the exams were. Most of the students felt that the economics exam was easy while those who faced the physics exams found it tad difficult.
Visit to examination centres
“We visited 7-8 examination centres and conducted inspection. The students have faced the exams without any confusion or fear. No untoward incident has occurred in the district,” said Subrahmanya Joshi, Deputy Director of Pre-University Education Department
Free transport on KSRTC
Free transport service has been provided by KSRTC buses for students attempting PUC exams. The students need only show their hall tickets for the free service.
