Govt announces 10% fee hike for Engineering courses

Bengaluru: Engineering education will be getting costlier in Karnataka from the upcoming academic year, with the Karnataka Government allowing the private engineering colleges for 10% fee hike.
On Saturday, Higher Education Minister GT Deve Gowda along with other officials and private college associations chaired the meeting and announced 10% fee hike in private engineering college.
Addressing presspersons after the meeting he informed that the association of engineering colleges had demanded 15% fee hike, but the government has convinced them for to 10% hike.
“We finalised the fee structure, as we are expecting a code of conduct anytime soon,” he added.
The govt seat which was 53,460/- in private college, last year will now be 58,800/- With the COMED-K seats which were Rs 1,83,600/- in last academic year will now be 2,01,960/- from the upcoming academic year.
It may be recalled that last year, the private colleges had demanded a 30% fee hike and later settled for 8%, as fixed by the fee regulatory committee.
