Lonely woman’s mysterious death suspected to be a murder

Kundapur: Gulabi Mogaveera (55), a lonely fisherwoman who was found dead under mysterious circumstances on March 1st has turned out to be a suspected murder.
The deceased woman was found dead in the sleeping position within her house by a regular fish customer of hers who had gone to her house in search of her as she had failed to turn up at the fish market. Only preliminary investigation it was learnt that the house door was unlatched when the customer had reached the house.
Locals expressed suspicion that it was not a natural death and must have been a murder for gain since the gold ornaments which the deceased woman wore daily were missing and also cigarette ash was found within the house.
Working on this suspicion the mortal remains of the woman were sent to Manipal for an autopsy and the post mortem report suggest that the case is indeed that of ca murder. The spot was visited by the new Udupi SP Nisha James accompanied by Kundapur DySP B P Dinesh Kumar, circle inspector Manjappa and Byndoor circle inspector Parameshwar on Sunday evening.
Incidentally, Gulabi was hale and hearty on Thursday but was mysteriously found dead on Friday morning with her four and a half sovereign gold chain missing.
During the post mortem, injuries sustained by the corpse were revealed which confirmed the possibility of a murder. Intrestingly, the CCTV camera installed in Vijaya Cashew Factory near the residence of Gulabi had stopped working on Thursday evening.
Suspecting the case to be a murder investigation, the police have already taken eight people into custody and intensified their investigation. Apparently, five police teams have been formed to probe the case from different angles.
