Former Union Minister Dhananjay Kumar’s body consigned to flames with full honours

Venoor: The final rites of former Union minister V Dhananjay Kumar, who died in Mangaluru on Monday, February 4 were performed at his native place of Venoor with full state honour on Tuesday.
The mortal remains were brought to his hometown Venur at 12 PM, after performing the rituals in Melina Pete of Venoor, the mortal remains were then taken to his house Panjalabailu Mane of Moodukodi village near the Venoor market in a procession.
After full state honour was given as a mark of respect to the departed leader, the last rites were conducted as per the Jain tradition at his home. His son and brother then lit the pyre.
Minister U T Khader, former ministers Abhaya Chandra Jain, Ramanath Rai, former legislators Vasant Bangera, Ganesh Karnik, Dr Mohan Alva of Moodbidri, Pratapsimha Nayak, Dr B Yashoverma, deputy commissioner Sasikanth Senthil, SP Sandeep Patil, AC Dr Krishnamurthy, Tahsildar Ganapati Shastri, circle inspector Sandesh, SI S H Nagaraj, taluk panchayat member Vijaya Gowda, Zilla panchayat member Dharanendra Kumar paid their last respects.
As a mark of respect to the departed leader the shops and establishments in Kelagina Pete of Venoor were closed for some time.
