Sumalatha hits back at Thammana, says “filmy background” remark made keeping Nikhil in mind

Mandya: In a scathing attack on Sumalatha Ambareesh, wife of the late actor-politician, M H Ambareesh, Transport minister D C Thammanna claimed that her attitude towards visitors has been very inhospitable and cautioned people not to get cheated by her colourful talks.
“Has Sumalatha ever interacted with the people visiting her house, when Ambareesh was minister and MLA? Had she shown any interest in knowing their problems? Has she ever offered them a glass of water? Now, taking Ambareesh’s name, she is talking about developing the district. Nobody is ready to believe her,” said Thammana.
Continuing his tirade Thammanna went on to say that the bad experience having elected actress Ramya, who “vanished from the constituency,” should serve as a lesson for the people of Mandya and they should not fall for the sweet talks of candidates from a “filmy background”. On the other hand, he, however, urged voters to elect Nikhil Kumaraswamy, who also happens to be an actor, while claiming that Nikhil being a farmers’ son will work for the overall development of the district.
Shortly after his comments went viral on social media and news channels, Sumalatha hit back saying that Thammana may have made the “filmy background” remark keeping Nikhil Kumaraswamy in mind. Further she said that she didn’t need to take hospitality lessons from Thammana.
“I am contesting from Mandya, not for the sake of a post or position but to tell the country how good my husband was. I am seeking the blessings of the people of Mandya to fulfill his dreams for it. I am a Mandyada Magalu and I have full faith that the people will support me in the coming election,” she added.
