Kharge hits back at Modi says PM is remote-controlled from Nagpur

Bengaluru: Taking a swipe at PM Modi for his “remote-controlled Chief Minister” remark, senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge without making a direct reference to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh said that Modi’s own remote control was in Nagpur.

His remarks came a day after Modi called H.D. Kumaraswamy a “remote-controlled Chief Minister” during a public rally held in Kalaburagi.

Speaking to reporters Kharge said that Modi’s remarks were aimed at destabilising the state government by instigating the alliance partners against each other. “Ours is a coalition government that is functioning as per mutual discussion and understating,” he added.

Responding to a question on why Prime Minister Narendra Modi didn’t make any reference to him during his speech, Kharge said: “I feel he did not take my name because there is nothing to say against me and he obviously cannot appreciate the projects I have implemented in my constituency.”

In the backdrop of rumours that the upcoming Lok Sabha election would be Kharge’s last election, he made it clear that he has no intention of retiring from politics. “I am a born fighter and will continue in the politics for a few more years,” he stated.
