Udupi: All meetings done by all candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections must be video-recorded, said Deputy Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, who was chairing a meeting for nodal officers for the LS elections at the district offices complex here on Saturday March 9th.

Candidates contesting the elections must compulsorily take permission for any election meetings, informed the DC. The appointed official must reach the meeting locations an hour in advance and maintain vigil there, she added.

Prior permission must be compulsorily taken before installing any hoarding or banner in favour of the candidate. The flex banners must be in accordance with the directions and any violations would be considered as a poll code violation. The cost of the stage, chairs, loudspeakers, pandals, vehicles, food and all other expenses at such meeting should be accounted for.

Parties are permitted to display their party flags only an hour before the scheduled programme at the meeting venue.

Care should be taken that the model code of conduct is not violated during any celebrations or jayantis in the period leading up to the elections.

Speaking at the meeting the Additional Deputy Commissioner said that the video recordings of the election meetings should be edited at the Assistant Election Officer’s office and should not be edited in any private place. Permission should not be provided to holding of one or more than one meetings in the same place or its surroundings, said the ADC.
