BJP likely to support Sumalatha as Independent

Bengaluru: The state BJP unit is more likely to support Sumalatha Ambareesh if she contest as an Independent from Mandya Lok Sabha.
It is gathered that the State BJP leaders have already conveyed its plans to support Sumalatha Ambareesh if she contest as an Independent to the central leadership and is waiting for clearance from the high command.
The intention Behind supporting her to contest as an Independent is to help her get votes even from some Congress supporters who would not support her if she is a candidate of the BJP informed BJP sources.
It is learnt that the BJP is confident that some of the rebel JD(S) leaders, who have joined the Congress, may support Sumalatha to settle scores with the JD(S) leadership.
Meanwhile, the Raitha Sangha, which has its branches across the Mandy district announced that it will be supporting Sumalatha Ambareesh. The Sanga will carry out a campaign for Sumalatha all over the district said Darshan Puttannaiah, son for farmers leader late KS Puttannaiah.
Sumalatha’s son Abhishek also joined Sumalatha during her campaign tour, while JD(S) candidate Nikhil Gowda will be launched in a big way.
