Kolar: Amid speculations that BJP has extended an invitation to former chief secretary Rathna Prabha to join the party,  the retired senior officer hinted at the possibility of her contesting the Parliamentary elections.

The former chief secretary’s decision to contest the elections has been influenced by her interest to serve the people of the state, however, she is yet to decide on which constituency she will be contesting from, stated a media report.

Meanwhile it is gathered that the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has offered a Lok Sabha ticket to Ratna Prabha from Chamarajanagar (reserved for SC). The party it is learnt has held one round of talks with her and has conveyed to her that she is free to choose any other seat where she will be comfortable to contest, including Bidar where she is popular for her official work.

Earlier last year, shortly after her retirement reports suggested that the BJP was keen on offering a ticket to her from Kalaburgi to take on senior Congress leader Mallikarjuna Kharge. Prabha, however, clarified that so far she has not received any official call from BJP party’s senior leaders, neither from the party president.
