Bengaluru: Sumalatha Ambareesh, wife of late actor-turned-politician, who is likely to contest as an independent from Mandya in the Lok Sabha polls on Friday, March 15 through a facebook comment taunting JDS said that the politics in the name of farmers should be stopped.
“Politics in the name of farmers should be stopped. It is a dishonour to the farmers,” commented Sumalatha in her facebook post.
This comment of Sumalatha comes in the backdrop of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda speech during their election campaign in favour of JD(S) candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy.
Kumaraswamy and Deve Gowda had spoken about farmers in the election campaign in favour of JD(S) candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy.
Speaking about her comment Sumalatha said that Politicians should never indulge in assurance politics. But they should respond to the farmers honestly.
She further added, “The people of Mandya don’t know slyness. The people are honest and I don’t want deceptive politics. I will do honest politics which Ambareesh was doing.”
Congress Party had ruled out fielding Sumalatha for the Mandya Lok Sabha seat, saying that Mandya would go to it’s coalition partner JD(S).
