Kaup: The police identified and fined the owners of bullet bikes who had fitted additional silencers to their bikes and thereby causing noise pollution at Kaup market on Monday.
6 bullet bikes which were causing sound pollution through their additionally installed silencers without the permit from the Transport Department were tracked down by Kaup police and a fine of Rs6,600 was collected from them.
Warned against installing silencers
Kaup SI Naveen S Nayak summoned the bullet riders to the police station, had the additional silencers removed and the original installed with the help of a mechanic at the station premises itself and warned the riders to not to violate the rules.
This operation was conducted in the backdrop of the usage of modern model silencers like the WBE and rocket silencers which cause noise pollution ,informed Mr Naveen.
Kaup crime SI Janaki, probationary SI Sadashiva, ASI Chandrashekhar and others were present.
Riders outraged
Bullet riders have expressed outrage against the sudden operation by the police against the use of modern silencers on bullet bikes. Instead of removing the silencers installed to the bullet bikes, the police should conduct raid on the showrooms, automobile shops and fitting centres which sell the products and give them warning. Then we will not incur losses, is the opinion being put forth by them collectively.
