Mar 23, 24: Beach Volleyball, marathon

Mangaluru: In order to spread awareness regarding voting for the 2019 election, a DK district level men and women open for all beach volleyball (3 member team) competition has been  organised at Panambur on March 23rd. Competitors are expected to report at the location before 9 am in the morning.

On Mar 24th, a DK district level marathon (18 km) has been organised at 7 am at Swaraj Maidan in Moodbidri for those beneath the age of 16 and for those above the age of 16. The route for those beneath the age of 16 years starts from the Maidan and will pass via the front side of Marigudi – Moodbidri main road – Hanuman temple – reach the old police station and turn towards the left – continue via Karkala road in front of Jain town – taking a left at Alangar – Kodiyadka tempe road – and reach back to the Maidan via Moodbidri ring road.

For those above the age of 16 years, the route of the marathon starts in front of Marigudi near the Maidan – Moodbidri main road – old police station – Jyoti Nagar – Mahaveera College, Kodangal, Jain College – Jain town – Alangar circle – Kodyadka road – Moodbidri ring road and conclude on the synthetic track at Swaraj Maidan.

For the senior citizens a friendly walk towards voting -2019 will be held from the front side of Marigudi to the Thousand Pillar Basadi.

School and college students from the district can participate in the marathon race. The names of those interested to participate in the event should be submitted to the Deputy Director, Youth Empowerment and Sports Department, DK district Mangaluru by Mar 22nd.

The winners of marathon and beach volleyball competitions will be felicitated with cash prizes. The competition is being jointly organised by the DK district administration, DK district SVEEP committee and Youth Empowerment and Sports Department, stated a release form the district Youth Empowerment and Sports Department.
