Representative of the people fail to respond to the demands of the villagers
Kadaba: After numerous attempts to get basic facilities to their village through the representatives of the people resulted to no avail, the tired villagers of Kombaru village in Kadaba taluk knocked on the doors of the High Court and after a continuous fight for 4 years, the villagers were successful in procuring grant from the government for development.
On Mar 14th, the government informed the High Court that a grant of Rs 40 lakh has been sanctioned for the construction of the Mettuttaru Bridge in Kombaru village and for Kudu road works. To the writ submitted to the High Court by Bhuvaneshwar Gowda, a resident of Kombaru village, a single judge bench by Judge S Sunil Dutt disposed it and also passed an order to start the work immediately.
Mr Gowda, a resident of Amuru here submitted a detailed writ to the High Court giving complete information on the problems being faced by the people in the area since decades together, due to the lack of a bridge at Mettuttaru and the lack of seasonal road to areas of Manibhanda, Mettuttaru, Perandodi, Amuru and Terebedi. He also complained that though there have been several attempts made to provide information regarding the persisting problem to the Prime Minister and the representatives of the people, no action has been taken.
Had reached the Supreme Court as well
Once in 2016, as per the writ received by the High Court, it ordered the government to take necessary action within the period of a month, but the GP as well as the government failed to take any action. When the applicant informed the court of the failure, the government gave the excuse of lack of funds. On this occasion, the applicant knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court for justice.
Resolve the application in the High Court
In the backdrop of the Supreme Court ordering to resolve the writ in the High Court itself, another application was submitted to the High Court.
The High Court took up the investigation of the writ on Mar 7th and ordered the secretaries of the government to be present in Court to give explanation on Mar 14th. Accordingly, the secretaries attended the Court through their lawyers and informed the Bench that the work related to the government officials group would be implemented after the completion of the election model code of conduct. Lawyer Praveen Kumar K S argued in favour of the writ applicant.
When 10 years of our fight bore no fruit we knocked on the doors of the High Court. Finally, achieving justice is a happy news, said social worker Ramakrishna Hollar expressing his pleasure.
“When the representatives of the people failed to respond, I had to inevitably reach out to the High Court. After a fight for four years, victory has been gained. In the legal fight, lawyer Praveen Kumar K N who is originally from Kombaru village and presently practicing in Bengaluru, provided all legal help free of cost,” said Bhuvaneshwar Gowda, the villager who filed the writ with the High Court
