Congress candidate from DK, Mithun Rai

Mangaluru: Congress has reportedly selected youth Congress leader Mithun Rai as the candidate for Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency and the official announcement is expected to be made before March 25, inform party sources.

Congress High Command had summoned its prominent leaders along with the aspirants for the party ticket to New Delhi to decide on the candidate to contest the Lok Sabha election from DK constituency. Party leaders including Ramanath Rai, Vinay Kumar Sorake, Kanachur Monu, B K Hariprasad, Ivan D’Souza, U T Khader and others went to Delhi in answer to the summons.

Post many meetings on Thursday, the final decision was left to Congress High Command and the leaders agreed to support the candidate selected by the party high command.

BJP ticket for DK constituency has been given to incumbent MP Nalin Kumar Kateel for the third time.
