Mandya: A day after Sumalatha Ambareesh alleged that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy misusing the government machinery to spy on her, the BJP party through a letter sought Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) protection to Sumalatha, her son Abhishek and actors Yash and Darshan.
It is gathered that BJP state general secretary, Arvind Limbavali has written a letter to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh requesting him to provide Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) protection to Sumalatha, her son Abhishek and actors Yash and Darshan.
In the letter written to the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh Arvind Limbavali said that “Sumalatha has complained to the Election Commission that the Chief Minister is abusing the official machinery to tap her phone and spy on her. She has also complained that the coalition government has deployed intelligence and police officers near her office for over a month. There are also instances of information gathering from her security guards, and attempt to photograph people visiting her house. In the wake of these incidents, I request you to ensure adequate security by CRPF and provide protection to her and her son and actors Yash and Darshan.”
Actress Sumalatha had claimed that the government is tapping her phones. The actress is contesting as an independent candidate from Mandya Lok Sabha seat against Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil.
On Monday, March 25 she gave an oral complaint to the Election Commission in connection to this accusing the state government of misusing its powers. She is also expected to file a written complaint, informed sources.
Sumalatha has further alleged that no security was being provided to her even though she had expressed concerns regarding her safety and also said that her opponents were trying to intimidate her.
