Kota: A vehicle which was being used to transport cattle illegally has been seized by Kota police in the early hours of Saturday March 30th. The police also rescued 11 animals while calves were found dead within the vehicle. However, those attempting to transport the cattle illegally escaped successfully.
Police sub-inspector of the station Rafiq M and staffs laid in wait for the vehicle at Kolkebail junciton based on credible tip off. Suspicious of an oncoming Mahindra pick-up vehicle and a motor bike, the cops signed them to stop. However, the drivers of both the vehicles abandoned their vehicles in running condition and made good their escape. Meanwhile, the running pick-up vehicle transporting the animals ended into a roadside drain.
The police found three dead calves, three cows, six male calves, and two female calves alive within the vehicle stuck in the drain. The animals were rescued and transferred to the police station.
A case in this connection has been registered at Kota police station. One of the rescued cows was found to be bearing he tag inserted for insurance purposes. Hence it is assumed that the cattle were stolen.
