DK: Rain and strong winds at various locations; damage

Mangaluru/Venur/Bantwal: Due to the surface storm experienced in the inner regions of the southern parts of the state, rain was experienced at various locations in Karavali.
At 5 pm in the evening, dust storm and normal rain was witnessed in Mangaluru. Being overrun by heat since a few days, Karavali welcomed the much required relief of rain, which brought down the temperatures slightly. Around half-an-hour rain was experienced in the evening at Venur. Since the drains were clogged, the college road here was inundated with water entering the roadside shops located here. As a tree had fallen on power cables at Permude, Kallatti and Korottu area in Venur region, more than 8 electricity poles were damaged.
Armadi: House damaged
Bantwal: The tiled roof of a house belonging to Mohan Jogi at Bedrugudde in Armadi village was completely damaged after a coconut tree fell on the house. His daughter suffered minor injuries due to the incident. Around Rs 2 lakh in damage may have been occurred, informed village accountant Shashikumar in the mahajar. Tahsildar Sannarangayya visited the spot. Due to the strong winds, the name boards of some shops have fallen.
Due to the strong winds, one part of the shamiyana installed in front of the hall in front of Polali Kshetra had collapsed. However, locals rushed in removed it.
Kadaba: Extensive damage
Due to the strong wind and rain, several trees were uprooted in Kadaba region on Tuesday. Lots of the cultivated crops have sustained damage estimated to be in lakhs of rupees. Traffic along Subrahmanya-Dharmasthala state highway was affected for some time after massive trees fell across the road at Marthala Chakotekere, Aleri and Kodanduru. The tiled roofs and sheets on top of many houses were blown away by the wind. Thousands of areca nut trees, coconut trees, rubber plantations have been destroyed.
Good rain was recorded at Ujire, Laila, Dharmasthala, Surathkal, Hosangandi, Kokkada, Puttur, Uppinangady, Hatyadka, Patrame, Nelyadi, Punjalakatte, Kinnigoli, Haleyangadi, Moodbidri, Savanuru and Panakkaje areas. There was a power cut suffered at various locations in the district due to the wind and rain.
Hailstone in Kodagu; crops damaged
Madikeri/Somwarpete: Coffee cultivators in Kodagu were delighted as normal rain accompanied by lightning and thunder was experienced at various locations in Kodagu district on Tuesday afternoon.
Hailstone rain was witnessed in Somwarpete which destroyed much of the newly planted chilly plants thereby inflicting much damage. Also, the rain was accompanied by strong winds.
