Shivamogga: Shivamogga Deputy Commissioner KA Dayananda has issued an order asking all hotels, resorts and homestays to avoid taking bookings from tourists if they belong to constituencies which go to polls on April 18 and 23.

Anticipating that several people might make use of the public holidays declared on the two dates to plan a small getaway, Dayananda has urged hotel staff to check the EPIC card details and address of tourists before taking bookings. If it is found that the tourists belong to constituencies which go to elections on April 18 and 23. “Bookings of tourists, from constituencies which go to elections on April 18 and 23 must not be entertained,” he said since this, in turn, will affect the voter turnout.

“Election is a festival of democracy and everyone must cast their votes,” said the DC while urging voters not to travel without casting their vote in their constituencies.
