Businessman jumps to death after killing wife, pet dog

Bengaluru: A 60-year-old man allegedly killed his wife with a dumbbell, then threw his pet dog from the terrace of their apartment and later committed suicide by jumping off the terrace on Tuesday, April 2.

The deceased is identified Atul Upadhaya and his wife Mamatha Upadhyaya (50).

Atul was running a travel agency in Ulsoor. The couple was residing on the fourth floor of an apartment near Gayathri Vihar with the son of Atul’s brother, who was pursuing LLB at a city college.

It is gathered that after Atul’s nephew left for college around 9:30 am, the couple got into a quarrel for about 45 minutes. The quarrel then ended with the killing of Mamatha.

In his suicide note Atul stated that that one of them (it was not specified) had recently found to be suffering from advanced stage of cancer and did not want to go through depression or any more suffering.

It was Atul was suffering from depression for the past few months, informed sources.

A case with regard has been registered with the Sadashivanagar police.
