Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday refused to interfere with the release of the movie PM Narendra Modi, which is scheduled to hit the movie screens on Friday.

Reportedly, the PIL filed by an advocate, seeking stay on the release of the film in the state until the ongoing election process was completed, was disposed by the Karnataka High Court

The court while disposing the plea, observed that it cannot interfere in such matters and only the Election Commission of India can take any action in this regard.

The petitioner, Ramesh Naik L (37), an advocate from Tumakuru district, had approached the High Court seeking directions to the Election Commission to direct the producers of the movie against the release of the movie in the state until the completion of the election process to the 17th Lok Sabha.

Seven-phased elections in the country will begin on April 11 and go on till May 19. Counting of votes will be done on May 23.

Karnataka will go to polls on April 18 and 23.
