Asian Throwball: Talents from the district win championship for India

Belthangady: Two talents from DK district who represented the India team at the Asian Throwball Championship held at Bengaluru have won an international championship for the country by defeating Bangladesh.

Three students from Alva’s institution at Moodbidri represented the Indian team at the tournament. Two of them are from Dakshina Kannada district while another is from Bengaluru. Along with those from Karnataka in the team, there were others from Tamil Nadu and Haryana.

The students from Alva’s are Poornima P from Puttur, Asha Poojary from Bantwal and Ananya from Bengaluru. They participated in the International Throwball camp conducted at Bengaluru on March 22nd and took part in the tournament on March 28th and 29th.

Poornima C

Poornima P is the daughter of Balanna Gowda and Umavati couple, residents of Kowdicchar Pagaladi in Puttur taluk. Poornima is presently pursuing her masters in Physical Education at Alva’s College. She has been pursuing her education at Alva’s since her degree.

She completed her high school education from Papemajalu High School and finished her PU education at Patte Sri Krishna Institution and this is her third international tournament. She wishes to play in even more matches if she is provided the opportunity in the future. Besides, she also aims to work as a Physical Education teacher.

Asha

Asha is the daughter of Kayarambu Ramanna Poojary and Pushpa couple, residents of Sarapady village in Bantwal taluk and is pursuing her final year degree at Alva’s College. She completed her high school and PU education from Maninalkuru PU College. This is her first international tournament and is proud to have represented the country. The good cooperation provided from the home has led to this achievement, says Asha.
