Mangaluru: “Rahul Gandhi is busy in ‘temple runs’, while Congress candidate for Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency Mithun Rai is wearing saffron shawl during his election campaign to woo voters. But such drama or tactics will fail as the people know the pro-people governance of the Modi-led Union Government,” claimed senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister R Ashok on Saturday April 6.
“Congress is like a drama company and its leaders including national president Rahul Gandhi are in fear of defeat because of the Modi wave in the entire country,” he added.
Referring to a few incidents where Congress and JD(S) workers shouted pro-modi slogans in the open during their meetings, Ashok claimed such incidents as proof of Modi wave in Karnataka and said,” Due to such incidents some leaders including Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy have already accepted their defeat. Although Congress and JD(S) leaders have joined hands to defeat BJP, leaders and supporters of both the parties and fighting amongst themselves. Their alliance will not work since the people of Karnataka and the entire country is aware of the welfare programmes of Modi government,” he said.
Opposing the state government’s decision to withdraw 142 cases pertaining heinous crimes including the Ulaibettu communal violence, Ashok alleged that Congress is trying to take advantage of the accused in the cases and said, “Such decisions reveal Congress stance on criminals and terrorists. Their leaders question the Pulwama attack and suspect the bravery of our soldier. Meanwhile, Congress also assures that it will amend the Sedition Act if it comes to power. The people will teach a befitting lesson to the Congress for their anti-national activities in the Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
