Mangaluru: The fixed citizen services of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) will be available online from May 1st. Though this, the long standing demand of the people of the city will be completed.
MCC had earlier informed that 10 of the services it provides including water fee, change of account, account registration, water connection, UGD connection, Town hall rent, Maidan rent and others could be managed online. But due to technical reasons and by giving other reasons, the corporation had failed to start the service. Now, online services will be started from May 1st, states the notice applied on the wall of the Revenue Department.
Wait in line for hours together
The government’s citizen services directorate had notified that all fees paid to the corporation must be paid through direct bank transaction from April 1st. But, due to the technical and other problems being plaguing the starting of the online service, grace period was provided to collect the fee through Mangaluru One outlets until April end. However, even to pay the least amount of water bill, one was compelled to stand in the queue for hours together. This was causing much trouble to those who had to go to work. Therefore, the corporation thought of introducing online services here similar to the ones that are already being provided at Tumkur Corporation. Through this, the concept of providing the citizen services to the people at their fingertips as put forth.
The various services provided by the corporation will have to be compulsorily paid through banks from May 1st. The service is being provided to procure challan and do payments from the banks which have already been fixed by the government including State Bank of India, Canara Bank, Syndicate Bank, Union Bank and Central Bank of India. Amidst this, the payments can also be done online, stated the notice.
