Mangaluru: In an incident that took place on Saturday, at a home at Vivek Nagar in Ballalbhag, a man died after the bed he was sleeping on caught fire all of accidentally due to an oil lamp nearby. The victim is identified as Ravindra (40).
Late in the night around 10:45 pm, the oil lamp fell all of sudden and hence set fire to the bed on which Ravidra was sleeping as well as his clothes. Later, the fire spread to the entire room and as Ravindra was unable to get out of the room, he died on the spot.
The residents of the house only included Ravindra and his mother Laxmi who was suffering from an ailment. Due to her condition, she was sleeping outside the room. When she saw the fire, she started shouting post which their neighbors arrived and doused the fire.
Ravindra was employed as a clerk at the passport office located near Kodialbail. A case has been registered with Barke police station.
