Bengaluru: The Election Commission on Tuesday announced that the bypoll to Kundgol assembly constituency will be conducted on May 19.

Reportedly, the bypolls will be held on May 19, coinciding with the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections and the counting will be held on May 23, along with that of the parliamentary polls.

The bypoll was necessitated after Karnataka Municipal Administration minister and MLA from the constituency C S Shivalli passed away in March due to cardiac arrest.

The three-time MLA from Kundgol in Dharwad district, once as an independent and twice from the Congress, had a history of heart disease, the sources said.
