Udupi dist administration gearing up for polls: DC

Udupi: Deputy Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati on Tuesday, April 9 said that all arrangements were being made for the smooth conduct of upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the district.

Briefing presspersons Hephsiba said that polling officials have undergone the first and second-round training sessions and that names of candidates’ are being added to EVM and VVPAT machine in Kaup and Udupi constituencies under the supervision of BLE engineers, AROs, political party candidates and their representatives,”

“A sum of Rs 48.91 lac has been sanctioned by the government for repair of poll booths and basic infrastructure. There are 956 presiding officers, 956 assistant polling returning officers, 1,912 polling officers and 250 micro observers in the district. Additional polling officials will deployed in the polling stations with a large number of voters,” she said adding the first and second-round training sessions for the polling officials have been completed

Further she informed that the Udupi district, including Byndoor constituency will have 25 Sakhi—all woman polling booths. Issuance of 6,48,885 photo voter slips have been done and the remaining 1,31,503 voters’ slips will be distributed within the next couple of days

The officer informed that Udupi district was ranked first in the state for early disposal of cases registered under cVigil applications.

Election expenditure observer Sachin and ADC Vidya Kumari were present.
