Mangaluru: “BJP themselves are claiming that Nalin Kumar Kateel is an incompetent MP and now are asking votes in the name of Modi. I want to ask, what is Modi’s contribution for this district? When Congress leaders were MP, footsteps of development can be seen in the district but there is no contribution from BJP to the district,” said former minister Ramanath Rai speaking to the media on Wednesday, April 10.
“Everyone chants Modi Modi, none of them are ready to say the contributions of Modi to the district. Vijaya Bank merger issue they blame Congress for this. It is important to note that when Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister, Nalin Kumar Kateel was the MP of the district. Being in the opposition he had the right stop the bank merger issue, but he never raised his voice,” Rai pointed.
“The promises made by Congress in the manifesto were fulfilled, but BJP never fulfilled the promises made in their manifesto. We have brought in Mahatma Gandhi Udyog Khatri scheme, RTI act, RTE act, Food Security Bill and also waived farmer’s loan up to Rs 72,000 crore. On the other hand BJP has waived loans of industrialists and businessmen,” said Rai.
“Congress has not done injustice to the poor. Large number of poor got benefitted by the schemes introduced by Congress. Modi rightly said that he is chowkidaar. Modi is chowkidaar of Ambani, Adani, rich men as poor people do not need chowkidaars. People have given one opportunity to Modi and now people should give opportunity to Rahul Gandhi to witness his administration,” added Rai.
