Bengaluru: Green spaces are known to promote mental and physical well being and for a city that is grappling with pollution woes, a particular BMTC bus driven by Narayanappa is simply offering a chance to spend time with nature.

Narayanappa K, 59, a driver who loves plants has been driving buses for 27 years. From past two years he’s been maintaining the plants in four pots with creepers in front of the bus and four behind.

Narayanappa’s efforts are preferred by way of passengers of all age groups.

Speaking on his initiative Narayanappa said “Many say they really feel pleasant all over the bus adventure because of the vegetation. Some even water the vegetation and get in touch with my bus a ‘Mini Lalbagh’.”

When asked what impressed him to nurture a backyard in a bus he said ” my wife and children love nature and gardening. They have grown many vegetation around our space. Their hobby inspired me to grow vegetation in the bus I drive each day,”

With Narayanappa due for retirement next 12 months, passengers hope different drivers will care for the vegetation.
