Bengaluru: BBMP commissioner and chief election officer N Manjunath Prasad on Saturday informed that use of mobile phones, within a 100-metre radius of polling stations across Bengaluru, has been banned.
As per the order, which is in line with Election Commission directive any voter carrying mobile phone will not be allowed inside polling stations, he said.
Further, he added that persons on election duty will be allowed to use their phones since they will have to report the process on an hourly basis.
Notably, while a ban has been imposed on mobiles, the EC has not made any arrangements for voters to deposit their mobile phones at the polling stations.
Karnataka will go to vote on April 18 and 23.
