Mangaluru: All the 1,500 police personnel appointed on election duty will be provided with a special kit containing essentials on April 17, informed City Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil at a press meet on Monday.
“The kits contain biscuits, toothpaste, tooth brushes, candles, match boxes, soaps, and shaving cream. This is for the first time that such a kit is being given to police personnel who are on election duty,” explained Mr Patil.
“Elaborate security measures have been taken to ensure the smooth conduct of the Lok Sabha elections in the commissionerate limits. There are 883 polling booths in the four Assembly segments that come under the jurisdiction of the commissionerate and 220 of them have been identified as critical. A total of 12 CAR platoons and 8 KSRP platoons had been deployed in the sensitive areas in all the four Assembly constituencies,” stated the commissioner.
