25 ‘Sakhi’ polling booths attractively decorated to welcome women voters

Udupi: 25 ‘Sakhi’ polling booths in Udupi which are completely managed by women have been attractively decorated with the aim to attract women voters.
Sakhi polling booths have been decorated with attractive cloth materials. Mats have been installed on the floor while even the table and chairs in the booths have been decorated. The walls of the booth have been decorated with drawings by children. Shamiyana has been installed at the premises of the pooling booth to provide shade, while health staff have also been requisitioned to provide emergency medical treatment.
Kids play corner, selfie centre
A kids play corner has been created for the children accompanying the women to the polling booth. The play corner is well equipped with a variety of toys. Besides, Sakhi selfie centre has been provided for the women to grab a selfie. The women can take a selfie with the election awareness umbrella available at the polling station.
The management of the ‘Sakhi’ polling station has been taken up by Zilla Panchayat Director Nayana and Udupi Women and Children Development Department’s Deputy Director Gracy Gonsalves under the direction of ZP Chief Operating Officer Sindhu B Roopa. The security at such polling station is provided by women police.
