Vote attempted by impersonation; police arrest accused

Bantwal: The policemen on duty at the 177 polling booth at Kalladka Higher Primary School have arrested a man who attempted to cast a vote impersonating another man on the evening of April 18th.
The accused from K C Road attempted to cast a vote by impersonating a person who was presently residing abroad by using the voter identity card of the latter. However, the polling officials grew suspicious of the voter when he failed to provide proper answer to their cross questioning. On continuous questioning, the accused revealed that he was casting a vote for the second time post which he was taken into police custody.
The accused was attempting to cast his vote impersonating one Mujibur Rahiman who is currently in abroad.
The accused has been taken into custody for questioning informed Bantwal town station police sub-inspector Chandrashekhar.
